The Messenger Lyrics » Linkin Park

[Verse 1]
When you feel you’re alone, cut off from this cruel world
Your instincts telling you to run
Listen to your heart, those angel voices
They’ll sing to you, they’ll be your guide back home
[Chorus]
When life leaves us blind
Love keeps us kind
It keeps us kind
[Verse 2]
When you’ve suffered enough and your spirit is breaking
You’re growing desperate from the fight
Remember you’re loved and you always will be
This melody will bring you right back home
[Chorus]
When life leaves us blind
Love keeps us kind
When life leaves us blind
Love keeps us kind
[Outro]
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh, oh
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh

About Linkin Park’s The Messenger from A Thousand Suns (2010)

“The Messenger” is the fifteenth and final track off the album,
A Thousand Suns
. It serves as a distinct closer to the album, removing the electronic influence prevalent in the rest of the songs and providing a positive theme as opposed to the cynical themes most of the other songs. After the string of criticism of the world in the preceding 14 tracks, “The Messenger” offers a glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel in love.
“The Messenger” was the only acoustic piece ever written by the band before the acoustic version of “Final Masquerade” was released in February 2015. On February 22, 2011, at a pre-show backstage press conference in San Jose, CA, Chester said that he wrote the song for his children, saying that they were growing up and things may get tough, but that he would always love them.
The song’s instrumentation features no percussion or bass, and is largely only guitar, with a piano entering in the second verse and a harmonium in the second chorus.
