Sermon Lyrics » James Arthur

[Verse 1: James Arthur]
You don’t have to say you’re sorry
Or redeem yourself to me, oh
I’m not asking for confessions
You don’t even have to speak, no
[Pre-Chorus: James Arthur]
I need you to feel that you’re more than enough
I already know you’re deserving of love
There’s not a question that you are the one that I need
[Chorus: James Arthur]
These are my words
This is my voice
That is my sermon
Give me your heart
Give me your pain
Give me your burden
‘Cause I can take anything that you can give
Forgiving everything that you did
These are my words
This is my voice
That is my sermon
My sermon, yeah, my sermon, yeah
My sermon, yeah, my sermon, yeah

FAQs About Sermon

What did James Arthur say about “Sermon”?

In a
track-by-track interview
,
James Arthur
stated the following about “Sermon”:
Sermon is a song I wrote in L.A., I went out to LA in the summer, only a couple of songs were written out there and Sermon is one of them.
I wanted to do like an
Eminem
style track, like
“Sing for the Moment”
, something that makes you feel empowered. I’ve done a lot of apologising in the songs previously to that and I wanted this one to be unapologetic and be like “No, this is who I am now, this where I am going and this is my sermon.”
I was really pleased to get
Shotty Horroh
for this one, my favourite M.C. from Manchester. I said to Shotty what the concept and everything was of this song and was like “just give me some honest lyrics and write something down about how you feel” and he came back with this amazing [part], I think its 24 bars, and it just blew me away. It’s probably one of my favourite songs.
