Crying In The Club Lyrics » Camila Cabello

[Verse 1]
You think that you’ll die without him
You know, that’s a lie that you tell yourself
You fear that you lay alone forever now
It ain’t true, ain’t true, ain’t true, nah
[Pre-Chorus]
So put your arms around me tonight
Let the music lift you up like you’ve never been so high
Open up your heart to me
Let the music lift you up like you’ve never been this free
‘Til you feel the sunrise
Let the music warm your body like the heat of a thousand fires
The heat of a thousand fires
[Chorus]
Ain’t no crying in the club, hey, hey
Let the beat carry away, your tears as they fall, baby
Ain’t no crying in the club, hey, hey
With a little faith, your tears turn to ecstasy
Ain’t no crying in the club
I won’t, I won’t, I…
Ain’t no crying in the club
I won’t, I won’t, I…
Ain’t no crying in the club

About Camila Cabello’s Crying In The Club from NOW That’s What I Call Music! 97 [UK] (2017)

“Crying in the Club” is the Cuban songstress
Camila Cabello
’s first solo single. The song is a fiery anthem about uplifting yourself after a downfall. The track was initially supposed to be on her debut album,
Camila
,
(previously
The Hurting, The Healing, The Loving
) but she later revealed that
it had been dropped from the final tracklist
.
To promote the song, Camila sent fans part of the cover art in order to complete and reveal the artwork. She gave her first live performance of the track at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, where she also sang
“I Have Questions”
as a part of Xfinity Encore at the show.
Camila broke down the song
ON AIR
with Ryan Seacrest,
saying:
For me, the club is kind of like a euphemism. The lyrics say stuff like “Let the music lift you up like you’ve never been this free, let the music lift you up like you’ve never been so high.” I feel like for me, that was more of what the writing process and what the album making process was saying to me.
In a 2019 interview to
The Telegraph
, Camila confessed that she regrets releasing “Crying in the Club”:
I didn’t write and it didn’t feel like me. I had the chorus to
“Havana”
, but I went with what was safe, what industry people said had worked before. Turns out, no one has a clue.

What did Camila Cabello say about “Crying In The Club”?
[What is it about this song which makes you feel like that you want your fans to hear this first?]
That was definitely part of the healing, this song. The lyrics are very hopeful, but the beat is very intense. I never just want to make a straight up happy song, it’s just not in my nature. The beat has this very intense, cathartic feeling about it. It was kinda like what the writing process was saying to me. So of the lyrics are “Let the music lift you up, like you’ve never been so high. Let the music lift you up, like you’ve never been this free.” It felt like what this album and this music was.

What was the creation process like?
About maybe a year or so ago we met up, and we were gonna start doing songs and making stuff together. We got in to do a song for Cashmere Cat called “Love Incredible,” and that was the first time we’d worked together. Then maybe six months later I was like, “We gotta do something for your record” – she was in the beginning of her writing process, and nothing really happened. We just kind of hung out and became really good friends.
I don’t really work with people unless I really like them and have a connection. She is one of the sweetest, most talented people. She’s so unbelievably driven. Anytime we go in the studio, she looks at me and she’s like, “Am I working hard enough? How’s my work ethic?” She’s like, “If you were a teacher, how would you grade me?” She works so hard, man. This girl really deserves the world.
I was in the studio with Sia [this past February], writing a song with Cashmere Cat and Happy Perez. Sia was on her way to the bathroom like, “Oh my God, I have a really good idea for a song!” And she was like: “What if there was one called ‘No Crying in the Club’?” and when she came back, we did the song in, like, 20 minutes.
I immediately called Camila like, “Yo, Camila, I have this crazy song, you’ve gotta do it. No one else could do it but you. You have such a strong, powerful voice.” It’s really hard for people to sing Sia’s songs, you know? She was like, “I’m so down, I’ll come in and listen to it.” She listened to it and was like, “Holy shit, this is amazing.” It just all clicked – we had been down this road many times – I’ve given Camila a billion songs, and this was the first one that clicked. This is the first time our visions really aligned on a song. Everyone just kind of looked at each other and went, “Oh, yeah.”
So we got in the studio and she made it her own, really just put a bunch of shit on it and wrote some new parts – she actually wrote the bridge. She just completely murdered it, and we were like, “This is obviously the song.” Anyone we played it to, it was just super infectious. And then, before I knew it, it’s coming out.
