Whole Lotta Rosie Lyrics » AC DC
[Intro]
Wan’ tell you a story
‘Bout a woman I know
Ah, come to loving
She steals the show
She ain’t exactly pretty
Ain’t exactly small
Forty-two, thirty-nine, fifty-six
You could say she’s got it all
[Verse 1]
Never had a woman
Never had a woman like you
Doin’ all the things
Doin’ all the things you do
Ain’t no fairy story
Ain’t no skin and bones
But you give it all you got
Weighing in at nineteen stone
[Chorus]
You’re a whole lotta woman
A whole lotta woman
Whole lotta Rosie
Whole lotta Rosie
Whole lotta Rosie
And you’re a whole lotta woman

About AC DC’s Whole Lotta Rosie from Let There Be Rock (International Edition) (1977)
“Whole Lotta Rosie” was released as the third and last single off
Let There Be Rock
. This song is a purportedly true story about one time frontman Bon Scott was staying in a hotel in Melbourne and when he went out to check out the pubs, he ran into this obese Tasmanian woman, named Rosie. She invited him back to her place for a party and when he got there, she closed the door and laid herself on top of him. She was “too big to say no to”, in Bon’s words, “so I just had to succumb, I had to do it. My God, I wish I hadn’t”.
Bon has said she was about 6’2″ and anywhere from 19 stone (266 lbs or 120 kg), as said in the song, to 21 stone, 11 lbs (305 lbs or 133 kg).
Ever since the 1991 Razor’s Edge tour, when the song is played live, “Rosie”, a huge blow-up doll with a voluminous body shape, joins the band on stage.

FAQs About Whole Lotta Rosie
What did AC/DC say about “Whole Lotta Rosie”?
In 1998, speaking to
Vox
magazine,
Angus Young
said:
We’d been in Tasmania and after the show [Bon Scott] said he was going to check out a few clubs. He said he’d got about 100 yards down the street when he heard this yell: ‘Hey! Bon!’ He looked around and saw this leg and thought: ‘Oh well!’ From what he said, there was this Rosie woman and a friend of hers. They were plying him with drinks and Rosie said to him: ‘This month I’ve slept with 28 famous people,’ and Bon went: ‘Oh yeah?!’ Anyway, in the morning he said he woke up pinned against the wall, he said he opened one eye and saw her lean over to her friend and whisper: ‘29!’ There’s very few people who’ll go out and write a song about a big fat lady, but Bon said it was worthy.
