Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour) [Live] Lyrics » Rihanna

[Hook x2: Jay-Z]
When the sky falls and the earth quakes
We gon’ put this back together
We won’t break
[Verse 1: Jay-Z]
Sak Pase, my Port-Au-Princes
My Haitian Gods and all of my Princesses
Our condolences as you fightin’ against this
We’re right by your side while we tryin’ to make sense of this
Heavenly father help us see through these problems
And for those that’s left, accept them into your garden
So here’s my theory, the country’s already starvin’
So we sacrificed many to shed light on all of them
God please pardon, I speak from the heart
It’s the only way I see this tragedy befall on them
So let’s get involved with them, hand to hand with them
Arm to arm with them ’til they get strong again
When the sky falls…
[Bridge: Rihanna and Bono]
Can’t wait until tomorrow
Haiti a Mi Amor
Haiti, Mon Amour
Not gonna leave you stranded, alone, alone
Oh no

FAQs About Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour) [Live]

How did this track come to fruition?

The genesis of the track
came with producer Swizz Beatz sending simultaneous text messages to Jay and Bono after watching a news broadcast covering the devastation in Haiti. After engaging in three hours of phone tag they agreed to collaborate. Bono would soon write the hook for “Stranded” while on the phone with Beatz:
The idea of the song is ‘We’re not gonna leave you stranded’ and that’s what the chorus is. So me and Bono started going back and forth with ideas, and he was like, ‘You know this word stranded keeps standing out to me’ and I asked him to sing it, and he put me on hold ‘cause he’s recording the ideas on a dictaphone. So he did it there and then on the phone.
The recording was done over diverse geographic locations and melded together, with U2 guitarist The Edge helping out with extra production work. Beatz then included Rihanna into the effort,
explaining:
I knew that Jay would be able to tell a story, and that Bono would be able to sing and bring it home. The last component that I added was Rihanna, and she’s kinda like the angel that’s on the track, softening it up and giving it that caring feeling, because this hook is so powerful.
