The story of this song is I’m a big fan of Khalid, and so I tweeted him. He happened to be in LA, so he invited me to the studio to hear some of the music that he was working on. And after his session that night, he texts me, he’s like, “Yo, come back to the studio tomorrow. We can make a song together.” So we kicked some ideas around, but we didn’t really get much. After he left, the producer that he was working with that day, his name’s Charlie Handsome, he was hanging around. That was the first time I met him too. It was serendipitous. He was playing some loops, and I heard this loop I thought was amazing, and so I wrote the song over that. And I didn’t want to leave the studio after having worked with Khalid for a day and leave without a song, you know? So it was a cool day for me, even though I didn’t get to finish a song with him. Hopefully at some point I will because I’m a huge fan. But if nothing else, at least I got a song out of it, so that was tight.
